CAPE REGIONE SICILIANA SGR S.p.A.
is a management company, incorporated on 19th December 2006 by
Cimino & Associati Private Equity S.p.A. (CAPE) with a
controlling share of 51% and the region of Sicily with a
minority share of 49%. CAPE REGIONE SICILIANA SGR takes its
origin from the appointment of CAPE, following a tender from the
Region of Sicily, as sole advisor of a newly formed Private
Equity Fund to invest in small companies operating in Sicily and
majority shareholder of the Management Company.
CAPE REGIONE SICILIANA is the first Private Equity closed Fund
managed by a mixed private-public company and the first Private
Equity fully dedicated to investments in companies with main
operations and head quarter in the Region of Sicily. Besides the
Region of Sicily, other private institutional and/or qualified
investors, as well as private entrepreneurs and professionals,
some of which with business interests in Sicily, have invested
in the Fund. CAPE REGIONE SICILIANA, whose activities are
carried out by a local team based in Palermo, has an investment
target consisting in acquisition of equity shares (either
minority or majority) in small and medium companies, in local
infrastructures, and in start up projects, especially those with
significant real estate asset. Target companies operate in
various sectors, ideally they are located within the so-called 'local
industrial districts', and can count on good profit margins and
growth opportunities. Main industries to be targeted will
include: agro-industry and niche speciality foods, tourism,
health care, transportation and logistic, shipping, renewable
energy (especially photovoltaic and heolic). The economic system
of Sicily also includes several industrial districts among which
it is likely to find profitable investment opportunities.
Ideally, CAPE REGIONE SICILIANA valuates with relevant interest
those investments in which the entrepreneurs and or key managers
of the target company will also keep or invest in a minority
stake, continuing to play their management role in order to
maintain the success factors within the company. After the
investment, CAPE REGIONE SICILIANA works in strict relationship
with the management of portfolio companies, with the intent of
increase the business value, especially supporting the
management in strategic and operating decisions such as new
product launch, new market entering, financial structure
decisions, budgeting and control, establishment of production
sites abroad, or add-on acquisitions.
